Spyderco Aqua Salt has been revived with a serrated edge H1 super stainless steel blade and black FRN handle. The sheepsfoot style blade has a hollow grind and a swedge for weight reduction. Black coated non-reflective titanium carbonitride (TiCN) blade coating gives the knife an additional tactical flair. H1 is an alloy steel developed to stay 100% rust free, even in salt water, while still holding an edge comparable to other high-carbon steels on the market. For a sure grip, the molded FRN handle has a bi-directional texturing and comes with a lanyard hole. An included injection molded fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) sheath features a multi-position G-Clip for many different carry options.
H1 is precipitation-hardened steel, utilizing .1% nitrogen instead of carbon. Carbon is the component in steel that makes the blade hard and allows it to hold an edge. Carbon also reacts to chloride, making rust. With nitrogen replacing the carbon; hardness and edge retention are realized but nitrogen doesn't react to chloride so it physically cannot rust.
