The Spyderco Mantra 2 C203TIP Titanium Flipper is slender, yet stout lending itself to everyday carry and use nicely. Slender in overall design and thickness, yet stout in build and composition. Aptly named, Mantra means 'a word or sound repeated frequently' and the Spyderco Mantra is sure to repeat itself in your carry rotation frequently. The Mantra 2 is also a repeat of the first with alternate handle profile and utilitarian drop point blade. Spyderco, Inc donates a porton of every sale of the Mantra and Mantra 2 to the National Parkinson Foundation. Brand new direct from Spyderco Knives.
The Blade: A full flat ground CPM-M4 blade bears an integral flipper and Spyderco round hole accent for fast opening with either hand in a variety of positions. The satin finished blade rides on caged ball bearings for smooth action with full flipper deployment. Versatile drop point shape is narrow, similar to a fillet knife, and razor sharp right out of the box.
The Handle: Built from two slabs of titanium, the handle has been bead-blasted and then tumbled for a working style finish that will take use in stride. The backside slab creates a Reeve Integral Lock (RIL)/framelock mechanism for solid and realiable lock-up with built in steel lockbar insert that also acts to prevent overtravel of the bar. Titanium hardware, standoffs and lanyard tube offer solid open construction to the sleek styling of the Mantra. Stainless steel wire pocket clip offers unassuming tip-up pocket carry on the right or left side.
About CPM-M4: M4 is a Molybdenum High Speed Tool Steels. It has a relatively high 1.3% carbon content for high hardness and excellent wear resistance. It offers better wear resistance and toughness than M2 or M3 alloys. Remember, however, that M4 is a tool steel - NOT a stainless - and must be wiped down/oiled after use to avoid corrosion.
