The Sage Series of knives has been a very popular model line for Spyderco. The Sage 5 carries this forward with the innovative modern Compression Lock technology. Returning to the original Sage 1 model's premium blade steel with modern composite handles reminds us all just how dead on Spyderco was the first time with an excellently designed 21st century knife.
The Blade: Spyderco's familiar leaf shape blade with full flat grind and fine satin finish. Instantly recognizable by the trademark thumb hole that offers quick dependable one-handed opening.
The Handle: Nested in the textured carbon fiber/G10 laminate scales are strong stainless steel liners that create the compression lock. Finger grooves in the handle also expose the round thumb hole for excellent ergonomics and ease of use. Includes a lanyard hole and reversible steel wire pocket clip for tip up carry.
Compression Lock: A lock mechanism that uses a leaf-like spring from a split liner in the handle to wedge laterally between a ramp on the blade tang and the stop pin (or anvil pin). Developed and patented by Spyderco, it provides extreme lock strength and ease of use.
