The ZT 0450 has already become a bit of a staple in the knife community. This limited run model kicks things up a notch in the way of a ZDP-189 blade, carbon fiber handle and blue anodized barrel spacers. Act fast, as we don't expect them to be around long. Brand new directly from Zero Tolerance Knives.
The Blade: Much like the standard 0450 this knife comes with a pointy spear shaped blade. It has been upgraded to ZDP-189 steel which holds a superb edge with satin finished grinds and tumbled flats. This knife comes extremely sharp from Zero Tolerance and will easily shave hair right out of the box.
The Handle: The handle is a slender yet comfortable design which allows for plenty of blade in a smaller package. It is made from pure black carbon fiber with a tumbled titanium lockside. Inside are two ball bearing pivots and a replaceable lock face for longevity along with two blue anodized backspacers which really pop against the handle frame. Comes standard with a stainless steel pocket clip for everyday carry.
About ZDP-189: Developed by Hitachi, this steel boasts excellent edge retention. Our research shows many users reporting their knife staying considerably sharper than other knives using D2, 154CM and S30V. Most makers harden ZDP-189 above 60HRC with some going as high as 65-67HRC. The result is a harder blade which will hold an edge longer, but may be more brittle at higher hardness levels. A great steel for repetitive cutting and slicing, but not for prying or an improvised screwdriver. Despite being labeled a stainless steel, we recommend keeping the blade surface clean due to the high carbon content.
Note: Limited to two knives per household for this limited release.
