A Pulaski at hand-tool scale, the Adler Pulaski Fireman's Axe runs a C60 carbon head on a compact hickory haft. Among axes it is a chop-and-grub hybrid, felling and limbing on one face, grubbing roots on the other.

• Axe and Adze in One Head - The forged head carries a chopping bit on one face and a hoe-style adze on the other. Swing it to fell and split, then turn it over to trench, grub roots, or gouge a notch. A vegetable-tanned leather guard covers the bit for storage.
• C60 Carbon Steel - C60 is a plain high-carbon steel chosen for toughness over edge life, and it resharpens with a file in the field instead of a bench setup. Carbon steel rusts, so wipe the head dry after wet work and wipe on a light coat of oil.
• 23.6-Inch US Hickory Handle - Adler cuts the handle from original US hickory, the traditional wood for striking tools because it absorbs shock instead of passing it along. The shorter 23.6-inch length keeps the head close to the work. Red anti-slip coating covers the grip.
• German Forged Build - Adler forges the head in Germany and sets it with a double wedge, a wooden wedge driven in first and a metal ring behind it, which keeps the head locked to the haft under heavy swings. The metal parts carry a lifetime guarantee.

The Adler Pulaski Fireman's Axe takes a pattern built for wildfire lines and brings it down to hand-tool scale. Ed Pulaski forged the original after the 1910 Big Burn so a ranger could chop and dig without carrying two tools, and Adler has changed little since — a chopping bit on one face, an arched adze on the other, switched by turning the haft over.
