Designed by Ruslan Sarychev, the Audacious Concept Backcountry Scalpel (originally the Ectopic) is a slim and compact cutting tool that is built with a robust construction making it a versatile addition to your daily carry in both backcountry and urban environments. A simple, straightforward design, the AuCon Backcountry Scalpel delivers plenty of EDC cutting performance in a sub-2 ounce package. This version comes in stonewashed CPM-S35VN.
Brand new, direct from Audacious Concept, Finland.
Blade: The compact Sheepsfoot blade of the Back Country Scalpel has a deep hollow grind for powerful slicing performance while maintaining durability at the spine. Jimping and a thumb scoop on the spine offer multiple options for controlled use while the hole near the tip lends a cleaver-like style. A heavy stonewashed finish hides wear from use and daily carry.
Handle: The full tang construction lends this slim knife maximum durability while the skeletonized milling reduces weight and allows for a variety of paracord wraps if added grip is required. Chamfered edges allow for a comfortable grip while dual finger cutouts deliver a secure grip for forward or reverse edge use. A generous hole allows for lanyard attachment at the pommel.
Sheath: Carries via a custom molded Kydex sheath.
CPM S35VN: was designed to offer improved toughness over CPM S30V. It is also easier to machine and polish than CPM S30V and the adjusted chemistry makes CPM S35VN about 15-20% tougher than CPM S30V without any loss of wear resistance. CPM S35VN’s improved toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping.
