Benchmade SOCP Black 440C Single Edge Fixed Blade 178BK

Greg Thompson is a Special Operations Combatives Program instructor with extensive hand-to-hand combat knowledge and skills. SOCP was the first officially designated combatives program for all U.S. Army Special Operations Forces and is also the name of the knife produced by Benchmade and designed for use with his program. This is an optimal tool for self-defense and allows the user to maintain dexterity and manipulate other objects without putting down the knife. With feedback from Special Operations personnel, Benchmade has also updated the design of the sheath clip to allow for better retention on MOLLE webbing, pocket seams, and waistbands. The 178BK is a single edge version of the SOCP made from black powder coated 440C stainless steel.

Blade: Nearly 3 inches of plain cutting edge deliver all the cutting power you need when it counts. The single edge makes this knife more compliant with regulations for greater legal carry ability. Before the sharpened portion of the blade a scalloped ricasso enhances traction for added safety in adverse situations. A center cutout creates a space for finger/thumb pads to rest for multiple grip options. A spear point profile with false edge top swedge delivers exceptional piercing ability on this compact blade.

Handle: Full tang construction keeps this minimalist ring knife durable while the symmetrical finger grooves provided a solid and secure grip in any position. An end ring offers additional security as well as fast, secure draw and positive retention. Flattened on top and outfitted with jimping, the ring end can be gripped with the thumb on the end for added leverage or used as an impact tool. Finished in a durable black powder coating the blade is discreetly non-reflective in use and carry.

Sheath: Carries via a MOLLE compatible molded polymer sheath with steel spring clip.

440C Stainless Steel: 440C sets the bar by which corrosion resistance of all other stainless steels are measured against. It offers excellent corrosion resistance, good edge retention and easy sharpening.
