About San Mai: A San Mai is a Japanese technique that typically refers to a blade with a hardened steel core with either iron or stainless forming a jacket on both sides. In the case of this blade we have CPM-154 forming the outer layers with CPM-S90V forming the core. This combination provides high performance wear resistance from the S90V with enhanced toughness and corrosion resistance as well as resistance to scratching from the CPM-154 for a power house of performance.
