The Buck 112 Ranger Crossbar Lock is a small American folding hunter on modern hardware. A MagnaCut clip point runs on dual thumb studs and a crossbar lock, with matte Macassar ebony scales set between the bolsters of a dark gray aluminum frame.

• Crossbar Lock with Dual Thumb Stud Opening - With thumb studs on both faces of the blade and a crossbar that releases from either side, the knife is fully ambidextrous.The crossbar drives forward across the tang under spring tension to catch the blade, and pulling the bar back from either side of the handle drops it shut.
• Magnacut Blade Steel - MagnaCut is a premium powder stainless with unusually good corrosion resistance for a steel that also holds an edge longer than most stainless. It comes back on an ordinary stone, and Buck runs the BOS heat treat in house.
• Aluminum and Ebony Wood Handle - The aluminum frame carries integral bolsters, so the classic 112 silhouette survives the loss of the brass. Genuine ebony scales sit between them for grain and warmth. Finished, it comes in under half the weight of the brass bolstered original.
• Reversible Deep Carry Clip - The clip rides the knife low, hiding all but a short tab of the frame in the pocket. It moves to either side for left or right handed carry. There is no sheath in the box as this one lives in a pocket instead of on a belt.

The Buck 112 Ranger

The Buck 112 Ranger was introduced in 1972 as the smaller companion to the 110 Folding Hunter. It keeps the clip point profile and finger grooved frame of the bigger knife at a size that suits a pocket rather than a belt sheath. Every version comes out of the Buck plant in Post Falls, Idaho, and carries a lifetime warranty. The pattern has been built in everything from brass and wood to aluminum and modern locks, and it still opens to the same narrow point which allows a hunter to work around a joint without reaching for a second knife.
