• Red, White, and Blue Acrylic Handle - Polished acrylic in red, white, and blue echoes the lucite scales on the earliest 119s Buck built. It handles just as glossy and slick as the classic phenolic Special, with no real difference in grip.
• Brass Guard and Pommel - Brass guard and pommel with aluminum spacers add real mass, and a full tang carries that weight straight through the handle. The result is a substantial, confident heft built for a classic hunting knife.

The Buck 119 Special

Hoyt Buck designed the 119 Special in 1942, when the U.S. government called for fixed blade donations to outfit servicemen overseas. He hand built the earliest examples from worn file blades and cast handle material in red, white, blue, and other colors before Buck settled on the phenolic handle that became standard. The hollow-ground clip point blade and integrated guard carried over from those original builds, shaping the model into a do-everything hunting and field knife. Buck still hand-finishes every 119 Special at its Post Falls, Idaho factory.
