Details

Matthew J. Leathers was a highly decorated US Navy SEAL that sadly lost his life in a deep sea diving exercise. During his nine years as a SEAL, his courage and unflinching devotion to duty gave rise to the phrase "Matt Would Go" by the leadership of SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team One. Matthew was known as a perfectionist and had designed a knife that would hold up to his high standards. It was created out of a coil spring from a scrapped HUMVEE and forged in his own homemade forge. Matthew's father, Tim, created the Matt Would Go company as a tribute and has partnered with Buck to bring the knife to market. This tough, hard use knife has a 5160 spring steel drop point blade now with Armor Black Cerakote coating and Camo Micarta handles.

Brand new, direct from Buck Knives. Made in the USA.

Blade: The utilitarian blade profile has an unsharpened top swedge and shallow grind delivering a good combination of piercing and slicing performance while retaining optimal durability of the 5160 spring steel blade. The blade now comes coated with Armor Black Cerakote, a poly-ceramic coating that is durable, non-reflective and corrosion resistant, enhancing the already potent blade design. A forward finger choil and spine jimping allow for greater control and security for finer cutting tasks.

Handle: Custom multi-color Micarta scales are bolted to the full tang of the blade for a rock solid platform, tough enough for the most hostile environments. The matte finish of the Micarta gives it plenty of traction for wet conditions while the deep finger grooves offer the utmost security for high pressure scenarios. An exposed pommel comes to a serious point which can be used as a striking instrument as well as for more mundane tasks. A generous hole is provided for lanyard attachment.

Carries via a custom molded Kydex sheath with TEK-LOK belt clip.

Donated Sales, a percentage of net sales benefit the MattWouldGo™ LLC, which in turn donates to Navy SEAL Foundation.

5160 Carbon Tool Steel: 5160 Alloy Steel, also sold as AISI 5160, is a high carbon and chromium spring steel. It offers excellent toughness and high ductility. 5160 is commonly used in the automotive industry in heavy spring applications, especially for leaf springs. Chromium is added to increase hardening response and performs well in a wide range of hardnesses. It can be hardened up near the 60s for knives needing more edge holding.
