Blade: The blade is made from satin finished, BOS Heat Treated 420HC, offering an excellent balance of edge retention, corrosion resistance and durability that is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast. A thick blade stock keeps the Vanguard durable while the deep hollow grind makes this knife an exceptional slicer for hunting, skinning and general wood craft. A forward choil allows for exceptional control of the blade. The front of the blade has the standard Buck markings.

Handle: The robust, contoured handle of the Vanguard is made from handsome Heritage Walnut DymaLux, a durable wood composite, that fills the hand in any grip. Executed with contrasting Black liners, the ends of the handle are capped with a brass pommel and matching forward finger guard for a classic look and optimal durability and security in the hand. The neutral design is comfortable, ergonomic and functional in a variety of grips.

Carries via a genuine, black leather belt sheath.

420HC Stainless Steel: 420HC is a stainless steel that provides excellent rust resistance, ease of re-sharpening and moderate edge retention while being exceptionally tough for a stainless steel. With proper heat treat it is said to preform similarly to VG-10 in wear resistance.
