Details
Paying homage to the knife that NASA took into space on both the Gemini and Apollo missions, traveling through the sea of tranquility to the Moon nine times, the Astronaut M-1 Knife is being reproduced to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of man's first steps on the moon. This knife is a re-creation made as close to the original specification requested by NASA as possible. Serialized production run.
Brand new directly from W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co.
Blade: Heavy gauge stainless steel is delivered in a machete style profile with a double row of sharp saw teeth on the spine that makes quick work of wood, plastics or similar materials. The blade is flat ground and sharpened for functional use. The blade is stamped on the tang with manufacturer and model information including the serial number.
Handles: The traditional machete-style handle is made of polypropylene, the lightest known plastic when the original was designed, which can withstand a forty-five caliber bullet impact without shattering and which emits no fumes, key for spacecraft use. The handles are attached with solid brass Corby-style fasteners for reliable security.
