Inline with his ultra-strong folding knife design paradigm, Andrew Demko and Cold Steel are back with his AD-10 in a full production model. One of the strongest folding knives on the market, the AD-10 utilizes the Tri-Ad lock system alongside a robust S35VN blade. This knife was crafted to the exact specifications of the original custom design and is a powerhouse folding blade. The Tri-Ad lock system functions similar to a back lock but holds substantially more weight when put to the test (800 + lbs of free hanging weight). The AD-10 is equipped with contoured, Black G10 handle scales and a satin finished, high saber ground, CPM-S35VN blade.
Blade: The blade of the AD-10 is made from satin finished CPM-S35VN and outfitted with a high flat saber grind that delivers powerful slicing in this beefy blade while retaining plenty of strength at the spine. The extra wide drop point blade has an upper swedge running almost the full length of the blade for enhanced piercing. Everything is fully ambidextrous thanks to a set of dual thumb studs.
Handle: The handle is made from 3D machined, bead blasted Black G10 over heat treated aluminum liners that will stand up to years of heavy use. The combination of liners and a robust back spacer create superior strength with an ergonomic, comfortable handle that will accommodate the largest of hands. The Tri-Ad lock operates like a familiar back lock for easy of use.
Carries via a right or left hand, tip-up only stainless steel pocket clip.
CPM S35VN: was designed to offer improved toughness over CPM S30V. It is also easier to machine and polish than CPM S30V. The inclusion of Niobium allows for the formation of niobium carbides along with vanadium and chromium carbides. Substituting some niobium carbides for vanadium carbides makes CPM S35VN about 15-20% tougher than CPM S30V without any loss of wear resistance. CPM S35VN’s improved toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping.
About the Tri-Ad Lock: The Tri-Ad lock system works basically the same as any lock back knife, pushing down on a spring in the rear of the handle releases the blade. The similarities stop there though, as it differs by adding a stop pin between the blade and back spring. This pin handles any pressure put on the knife and allows the spring to self adjust over time, resulting in a rock solid lock that can handle an absurd amount of weight in lock tests.
