Designer Ken Onion wanted a to design a tactical every day carry folding knife that was attractive, low-profile and highly functional. Following his thought experiment to the conclusion Ken also wondered what the result of putting a rectangular knife handle in a vise grip and giving it a twist? The Helical answers both. The "twisted" anodized aluminum handles are both attractive and surprisingly comfortable. The aluminium handles and liner lock construction keeps the Helical light weight yet durable while the satin finished Tanto blade offers ease of maintenance and well balanced performance. This version comes with a black oxide coated D2 tool steel blade and black hardware.

Blade: The +3.5" blade delivers plenty of cutting performance for every day tasks thanks to the flat grind and robust, Tanto point profile. The slender blade is maneuverable for fine tasks while being robust enough for breaking down boxes or other heavier tasks. The Tanto point offers durability and enhanced piercing performance. The blade deploys on IKBS ball bearings via the integral flipper tab for fast, smooth operation.

Handle: The Helical has a contoured Aluminum handle with a literal twist in the scales delivering a striking and surprisingly comfortable grip. Jimping on the blade spine pares with the subtle dual guard for added security in the hand. An inset stainless steel liner delivers secure lock up and smooth, simple operation.

Carries via a right hand, tip-up stainless steel pocket clip.

D2 Tool Steel : D2 is a cold work tool steel that has been used as a die cutting steel since WW II. D2 has a high chromium content for a tool steel (10-13%) which gives it greater corrosion resistance than most high carbon steels making it semi-stainless. D2 offers a good combination of toughness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance for a good all around knife steel.
