The caping knife is a purpose built cutting tool designed for precision cuts needed for skinning the head and neck of an animal. A utilitarian drop point profile, the Gerber Downwind Caper pairs this traditional design with modern materials delivering a high performance sporting blade. This version comes with a two-tone 7Cr17MoV stainless-steel blade with Sage Green GFN and layered green and black G10 handle scales.
Brand new, direct from Gerber.
Blade: The sub-2.5 mm 7Cr17MoV stainless-steel drop point blade comes with a satin finished flat grind for optimal slicing performance. Spine jimping near the tip provides traction when using a pinch grip with the index finger on the spine for precision cutting. The gently sweeping belly is ideal for skinning tasks and ends at a large index finger choil which gives added control and safety during heavier cutting.
Handle: The full tang construction supports durable and weather resistant GFN on top of which rest high traction layered G10 handle scales. Chamfered edges make the ergonomic design comfortable in extended use, while the neutral shape allows for multiple grip options for added versatility. A pronounced guard and spine jimping deliver added safety in use. Stainless pins and a hollow lanyard tube hole the scales securely to the tang.
Sheath: Carries via a waxed canvas sheath with snap closure.
