Kabar D2 Extreme Fighting Plain Edge

The Kabar 1292 Extreme Fighting knife is built from tough D2 tool steel with utility and martial performance behind its functional, timeless design. This version comes with a more modern and durable handle material and Glass-Filled Nylon Sheath offering the same classic design with enhanced performance for the forest or the battlefield. By popular demand KaBar is now offering the D2 Extreme Fighting Knife in a fully plain edge blade.

Blade: Black coated, wear resistant D2 high carbon tool steel has been saber ground for toughness. This version comes with a plain cutting for clean slicing performance, good utility and ease of sharpening. A straight spine terminates in the famous clip point delivering enhanced piercing capabilities while retaining a high level of toughness. The black coating provides needed corrosion resistance while the D2 will hold a razor like edge.

Handle: The tang of the blade is wrapped in a grippy Black Kraton G handle that is nearly indestructible and all but impervious to the elements. A gray powdered metal guard offers additional protection from slipping onto the blade while a metal holed pommel makes the knife very well-balanced and provides an improvised hammer tool in a pinch.

Sheath: This knife comes with a rugged Glass-filled Nylon Sheath with MOLLE compatible nylon backing for multiple secure carry options.

D2 Tool Steel: D2 is a cold work tool steel that has been used as a die cutting steel since WW II. With a high chromium content for a tool steel (10-13%) D2 offers greater corrosion resistance than most high carbon steels. With a good combination of toughness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance D2 is a well-balanced, all around knife steel.
