Named after a legendary 16th century Japanese warrior and leader from the Sengoku period known as the “One-Eyed Dragon of Ōshu”, the Sengoku Date Masamune sports striking blue Pakkawood handles engraved with his family crest and name in kanji or kana. Flowing wave milling in the scales provides a non-slip handle and a handsome look with anodized pivot and high-performance San Mai SPG2 blade.

Blade: The clip point blade opens smoothly on Mcusta's Teflon washer system via dual anodized thumb studs. A long swedge and shallow hollow grind offer powerful performance with solid durability. San Mai clad SPG2 powder metallurgy stainless steel delivers modern performance and visual appeal with a faux hamon line and tsuchime hammered finish.

Handle: Stout steel liners support handsome Pakkawood handle scales milled for style and traction. Offering security in multiple grips, the clean, tapered design is ergonomic for use with a deep finger groove for added safety. The stainless liner lock mechanism is simple, smooth, and solid with secure lockup for safe use.

SPG-2: Super Gold 2 (A.K.A. SG2) is a Japanese powder metallurgy stainless steel with edge retention and corrosion resistance similar to that of S35VN or Elmax with toughness falling between the two. Sharpening response is better than S30V or Elmax. SG2 is often used as the core of Japanese San Mai blades used in kitchen and folding knives to allow for higher hardness for better performance with enhanced toughness from the cladding.
