Getting its name from the 3/16 inch stock used for the blade and handle slabs, the Medford Knife and Tool 187 F is a tank of a folder that is capable of handling just about anything with fast flipper deployment and a more convenience compact carry footprint. The drop point blade is functional for a variety of work with a mid-height hollow grind offering solid performance and durability. This version comes with a black PVD coated D2 tool steel blade, olive green G10 front scale and bright tumbled titanium frame.

Blade: Made from thick D2 tool steel the sub-3.5 inch drop point blade has a non-reflective black PVD coating for discreet carry and use. The deep mid-height hollow grind delivers solid slicing and durability with a fine tip for piercing and detail work, making this a great all around blade. High traction spine jimping and an index choil provide a grip for controlled work. Operation is smooth thanks to the oversized dual bronze washer pivot with ambidextrous opening via the pronounced flipper tab.

Handle: Two 3/16 inch slabs are joined with barrel spacers in an open back construction. The front is textured G10 for lightweight durability, weather resistance and traction. The rear frame is solid titanium with a bright tumbled finish and cut to form the robust integral frame lock mechanism. Both slabs have chamfered edges for enhanced comfort and strategic jimping for traction. Just over 4 inches of handle provide plenty of grip area in a more compact size for ease of carry. Satin bronze anodized hardware and lock bar stabilizer finish the construction.

D2 Tool Steel: Used as a die cutting steel since WW II, D2 offers a good combination of hardness and wear resistance with moderate toughness and stain resistance. High chromium content for a tool steel (10-13%) gives D2 better corrosion resistance than most high carbon steels.
