Medford Smooth Criminal Yellow Aluminum Tumbled S35VN Button Lock Flipper

The Smooth Criminal is the first aluminum frame folder from Medford Knife and Tool. The Smooth Criminal is a button lock flipper with hard-anodized finish and an S35VN blade making it a more economical option that still retains the high standards set by Medford: 100% American made with all the MKT attributes you’ve come to expect. This version comes with a tumble finished CPM-S35VN blade and "yellow" hard anodized aluminum handles with bronze hardware.

Blade: The utilitarian CPM-S35VN drop point blade starts with 5/32 inch thick stock and is then tumbled and ground with a mid-height hollow grind for solid performance and good durability. The thinner blade stock reduces the weight and thickness while enhancing cutting performance. Finely tumbled flats help to hide wear while the satin grind lends visual appeal. The blade deploys smoothly on a ball bearing pivot via the index flipper optimized for light switch operation. A generous sharpening choil allows easy sharpening.

Handle: Two 3/16" slabs of solid hard anodized aluminum form the handle. Both scales have stepped milling for a more contoured feel with a partial aluminum back spacer and extended lanyard attachment tab. The button lock mechanism is flawlessly smooth and reliable. Both slabs and blade come marked with a corresponding serial number. Bronze hardware and clip round out the construction.

CPM S35VN: was designed to offer improved toughness over CPM S30V. It is also easier to machine and polish than CPM S30V and the adjusted chemistry makes CPM S35VN about 15-20% tougher than CPM S30V without any loss of wear resistance. CPM S35VN’s improved toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping.
