The Microtech Hawk Auto revives the iconic 1996 design with 21st Century updates and aesthetics for a sleeker finish and increased functionality. This version features a piercing Karambit-style Hawkbill blade of Stonewashed Elmax stainless steel and Black aircraft grade aluminum handles with black traction inserts.
Brand new, direct from Microtech Knives, USA.
Blade: The Hawk sports a claw-like 3.95-inch blade of stonewashed, Bohler Elmax stainless steel with killer good looks. Grind, upper swedge and spine supply the attitude while the flats feature weight-reducing cutouts with a futuristic vibe. The point-tapering grind offers an excellent combination of range and cutting performance while the tip offers powerful piercing capabilities while retaining a high level of toughness. The blade opens lightning quick via the large, high traction button actuator.
Handle: Constructed of durable aluminum handles that are both light weight and tough, finished in a black hard anodization for a discreet look. A finger choil and arched back deliver security in the hand in any position along with a jimped thumb ramp and jimping along both the top and bottom of the tapered pommel end. The same button that deploys the blade also disengages the rock solid plunge lock that delivers security in use. The Hawk is completed with Torx Hardware, pocket clip and hardened steel glass breaker insert.
Carries via a right hand, tip-up stainless steel pocket clip.
Bohler Elmax: Elmax has become an extremely popular choice for high-end user grade knives thanks to its extreme edge retention. Elmax also has a good corrosion resistance, meaning most users can avoid corrosion (rust) by simply wiping off their blade after each use. Another great feature of this steel is its ability to resist burr formation during sharpening. Elmax has very similar performance to M390 and is used interchangeably by Microtech.
