A 250th-anniversary edition, this Microtech UTX-85 pairs an American-flag Cerakote handle with an Apocalyptic M390MK blade on a Gen IV out the front auto that fires hard and still carries every day.
- 250th American-Flag Cerakote Handle - An American-flag Cerakote job wraps the contoured aluminum chassis for this 250th-anniversary run, matte with a light grip that fills the hand and locks in secure. A stainless steel glass breaker sits at the end of the handle.
- M390MK Apocalyptic Drop Point Blade - Böhler M390MK is a premium stainless that holds an edge well and shrugs off rust, though it is harder to resharpen. The single-edge drop point runs a flat grind that slices clean for everyday cutting, in a rugged Apocalyptic finish.
- Gen IV Dual-Fuel Drive Train & Crud Kutter - The double-action thumb slide fires the blade hard and snaps it closed crisp on a firm, deliberate push. The Dual-Fuel Drive Train powers deployment, and the Crud Kutter channel keeps lint and debris clear of the firing path.
- Milled Titanium Pocket Clip - A milled titanium clip with a ceramic ball carries the knife tip-down, held by firm tension that keeps it put. The footprint sits about average for an OTF, so it rides a front pocket easily.
The Microtech UTX-85 Gen IV
The Microtech UTX-85 Gen IV takes the full-size Ultratech and scales it down to a knife that rides a pocket without giving up the fire or the capability. The contoured chassis is shaped for a secure grip, and the double-action out the front action drives the blade straight out along the handle instead of arcing it open on a pivot. Microtech builds the UTX-85 to the same pattern as its larger sibling, so the smaller frame fires and locks up like the full-size original.
What's new in Gen IV?
Gen IV reworks the drive over the earlier Gen III. The Dual-Fuel Drive Train adds firing power and smooths deployment, while the Crud Kutter debris channel keeps grit and lint from fouling the mechanism between cleanings.
The Microtech Signature Series
The Microtech Signature Series gathers the limited and special-run pieces in the catalog, the editions built around a theme, a finish, or a run count rather than the standard lineup. These are the knives collectors watch for, produced in smaller numbers and often retired once the run sells through.
