Custom knife maker Enrique Pena is known for his exceptionally well crafted and refined designs as well as the blending of traditional and modern elements. This Pena Knives Front Flipper Apache is a perfect example and offers his custom design in a more affordable, production platform. This version comes with a satin finished, M390 blade, titanium bolsters and liners and Marbled Carbon Fiber handle scales. Limited 300 piece production run.

Blade: Following the pattern of his custom Apache, this knife has a Wharncliffe blade with modern front flipper tab deployment and reverse Tanto point. Made from premium, Bohler M390 stainless steel the blade is equipped with a nearly full flat grind and fine satin finish with a long top swedge. The grind and swedge deliver excellent slicing and piercing performance for the modern user while a generous nail nick allows for a traditional two-hand opening. Riding on ceramic bearings over hardened stainless steel washers, operation is reliably smooth with a well dialed in ceramic detent for decisive flipper action.

Handle: Reminiscent of a classic single blade trapper, the sweeping handle profile is formed by two thick titanium liners with integral milled bolsters. Stunning Marbled Carbon Fiber scales are supported by the liners and contoured for a comfortable, ergonomic grip that provides solid traction. Forming the liner lock mechanism, the rear liner is accessed via a cutout in the bolster and equipped with a hardened steel lock face for smooth, reliable operation for the life of the knife. Construction is rounded out with a titanium partial back spacer and satin Torx hardware.

Bohler M390: Bohler M390 has become an extremely popular choice for high-end user grade knives thanks to its extreme edge retention. M390 also has a good corrosion resistance, meaning most users can avoid problems by simply wiping off their blade after each use. Another great feature of this steel is its ability to resist burr formation during sharpening. Comparable steels are CTS-204P and Duratech 20CV.
