This Pena Knives Front Flipper Trapper is a perfect example and offers his custom design in a more affordable, production platform. This version comes with a satin finished, M390 blade, titanium bolsters and liners and Green Canvas Micarta handle scales.

Blade: Following the pattern of a classic Trapper this knife has a clip point blade with a modern front flipper tab for deployment. Made from premium, Bohler M390 stainless steel with a fine satin finish the blade has a high saber grind and a razor edge. It rides on a ceramic bearing pivot and hardened stainless steel washers for a reliably smooth deployment with a well dialed in ceramic detent for decisive deployment.

Handle: Modern and clean in form and function, the frame of the handle is formed by two thick titanium liners which also form the integral bolsters. Rugged Green Canvas Micarta scales are supported by the liners and contoured for a comfortable, ergonomic grip that provides solid traction. The rear liner is cut into a reliable liner lock mechanism which is accessed via a cutout in the bolster and outfitted with a hardened steel lock face for smooth, reliable operation. Construction is rounded out with a titanium partial backspacer and satin Torx hardware.

Bohler M390: Bohler M390 has become an extremely popular choice for high-end user grade knives thanks to its extreme edge retention. M390 also has a good corrosion resistance, meaning most users can avoid problems by simply wiping off their blade after each use. Another great feature of this steel is its ability to resist burr formation during sharpening. Comparable steels are CTS-204P and Duratech 20CV.
