Protech's BR-1 Magic Bolster Release automatic knife has a hidden secret that, once you've mastered, you'll want with you every day. Ingeniously designed by Mike "Whiskers" Allen, the BR-1 has a textured bolster that acts as the actuator, lock, and release. Simply press your thumb toward the spine to open and close using the Magic Bolster. This version has a black DLC coated 154CM blade with matching handle and textured bolster.

Blade: The utilitarian drop point 154CM stainless steel comes with a durable black Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating that resists wear and corrosion while being discreetly non-reflective in use. Flat ground with a subtle upper swedge, the drop point handles daily tasks with ease and deploys with a snap with a subtle slide of the bolster.

Handle: Hard anodized aluminum creates a durable, lightweight handle with subtle curves and finger grooves for a solid grip. The handle houses the blade and full length back spring while delivers solid lockup via the same "magic bolster" mechanism. The bolster is textured for added grip and decisive operation.

Carries via a right-hand DLC stainless steel deep carry clip. 

Crucible 154CM: Originally developed as a stainless bearing steel, 154CM is an improved version of 440C with added molybdenum that offers improved resistance to pitting from corrosion and higher hardness for better edge retention. Similar to Hitachi ATS-34.
