The Protech Knives Runt J4 4415 is the newest California Legal automatic knife to join the Protech family. This is a high performance Gentleman's automatic that carries like a feather and performs like a razor while still being stout and durable enough for serious use. The Runt J4 is built with modern American materials, high tech manufacturing, advanced coil spring mechanism, and American production quality that Protech prides itself on. This variant is equipped with a DLC coated, plain edge blade made from 154CM and Black Anodized aluminum handles.

The Blade: The Runt J4 comes with a California Legal, sub-2" blade made of American 154CM stainless steel. 154CM provides a great balance of edge retention, corrosion resistance, and toughness making it an excellent choice for every day use. The utilitarian drop point provides a fine point that can be used for detailed cutting tasks. The plain edge blade is equipped with a matte black DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating that resists wear and corrosion and offers added discretion for use. The blade deploys via a push button operated coil spring mechanism that is fast and smooth for easy one-handed operation.

The Handle: The robust handle is made of 6061-T6 Anodized aluminum keeping the knife compact and lightweight while providing plenty of grip for secure use. A subtle choil and tapered end make for a comfortable grip. A true Gentleman's knife that disappears in the pocket, the Runt J4 is as at home in jeans as it is in dress pants. The Runt carries securely via a single position (tip-down, right hand) DLC coated, stainless steel pocket clip.

Crucible 154CM: 154CM stainless steel is an improved version of 440C with molybdenum added. It has improved corrosion resistance and edge retention as well as a high wear resistance. Add ease of sharpening to the list and you have a great, all-around American steel.
