Details
This Tactical Response 4 from Protech comes in green anodized aluminum with a stonewashed MagnaMax blade. A coil spring drives the push button automatic action, and the grooved handle gives a roomy, full grip.
- MagnaMax Stonewash Drop Point Blade - MagnaMax is an ultra-premium stainless tuned hard toward edge retention, holding a working edge far longer than most stainless manages. Sharpening it wants diamond or CBN. It has a high flat saber grind which runs to a plain edge on a drop point.
- Green Anodized Aluminum Handle - Green anodizing covers 6061-T6 aluminum, and the handle stays smooth to the hand across its whole length. Three finger grooves shape it, and a fourth choil opens where the bolster meets the blade, leaving room for a full grip.
- Coil-Spring Fire & Slide Safety - The recessed button releases a coil spring that throws the blade out hard and fast, into a lockup that holds tight with no play. A steel slide safety at the front of the handle locks it shut.
- 416 Stainless Glass Breaker & Deep-Carry Clip - Hardened 416 stainless forms the glass breaker at the end of the handle, set into the frame and running past it far enough to serve as an oversized lanyard loop. The clip is setup for right-handed deep-carry mounted tip-up.
The Protech Tactical Response 4
The Protech Tactical Response 4 is the largest automatic in the Tactical Response line, a full-size push-button folder built around being carried ready. Protech originally designed it to fill a specific US military requirement, and the fittings still read that way - a safety at the front of the handle, a firing button recessed below the surface, and enough hardened steel at the end to strike with. Machined finger grooves fix the hand in one position before the spring does anything, which matters on a knife that opens with this much force. Building in small California batches since 1998, Protech aims the TR-4 at someone who wants a duty-size automatic and expects to open it without looking down.
