The K-1 Flipper from Reate Knives is a masterpiece in form, function and finish. Its body is sleek with clean lines flowing into the futuristic-looking, harpoon-tip Ladder Pattern Damasteel blade. This version is outfitted with titanium handles inlaid with gorgeous Mokuti.

The Blade: Damasteel delivers a pattern welded steel that is exceptionally beautiful while retaining the performance of a more modern, powder metallurgy steel. This is a stainless steel that is easy to maintain. The blade is fashioned in a beautifully upswept slicer profile with a subtle harpoon style tip. It's amazingly sharp thanks to David's freeze edging technique. During grinding, the temperature on the edge is closely controlled which helps maintain the hardness after heat treating. This process means the sharpness and durability of the blade are assured helping bring the performance of the material to it's highest potential. The high polished and etched finish along with the crowned spine create a stunning package. The integral flipper operation, blade seating and ceramic bearing system are all class leading as Reate is well known for. 

The Handle: The in-hand feel of the handle is phenomenal. It melts like butter in your hand. The handles are contoured 6Al4V titanium with a fine media finish and bright Mokuti inlays. The peaks of the titanium are satin finished to highlight the Mokuti and exhibit the precision Reate is capable of. The interior of the titanium scale and frame lock have milled out pockets reducing weight and giving the K1 a very balanced feel. A rounded 50% titanium back spacer with Ti hardware brings the K-1 together. The frame lock has a steel insert for silky smooth operation and doubles as over travel prevention. A single position tip up Ti pocket clip is attached for tip-up, right-hand only carry and features a ceramic ball bearing insert for smooth transition in and out of your pocket.

About Damasteel: is a high hardness, high corrosion resistant steel that combines two martensitic stainless steels - RWL34 and PMC27 - in various patterns that, when etched, create the designs seen in the blade. Damasteel delivers a blade that is very eye-catching and has performance in the realm of RWL34, which is similar to CPM154.
