The Serge Panchenko Bean Cleaver Flipper is a fun pocket-sized design by Serge Knives. This mid-tech design is non-locking, with the blade held both open and closed by the ball bearing detent embedded in a titanium frame. Although it takes a little practice, the bean can be flipped open one-handed and it fits perfectly in the fifth pocket of most jeans. This version comes with a blade of CPM-154 and patinated Copper overlay.
This item is brand new direct from Serge Knives.
Blade: Composed of CPM-154 with integral flipper tab and oval window cutout, the blade has been bead blasted and then tumbled for a dark smoky finish. The cleaver's edge is polished and quite sharp. It makes an ideal carry for simple everyday cutting tasks.
Handle: Precision machined Titanium has a dark tumbled finish with a copper overlay on the front finished with Serge's heavily tumbled patinated finish and milled SP Logo. Open construction with a single milled titanium standoff is modern-looking and makes for easy cleaning. Titanium hardware and an attached titanium pocket clip for right-handed tip-up carry round out the Bean Flipper.
CPM-154: A particle metallurgy version of 154CM that benefits from the refinement in the PM process providing it with an increase in toughness and easy of finishing. CPM-154 takes a very fine edge and is highly corrosion resistant. Edge retention is going to be on-par with CPM S30V while being easier to resharpen. A great all-around blade steel.
