Smith & Sons Legacy Trapper D2 Carbon Fiber Slip Joint

The Legacy Trapper is a classic slip joint pattern delivered from Smith & Sons in collaboration with Maserin Cutlery of Maniago, Italy. Offering a more modern interpretation of the classic pattern the Legacy Trapper is a perfect non-locking folder for everyday carry and use. This version comes with a stonewashed D2 Tool Steel blade and Carbon Fiber handle scales.

Blade: This classic Trapper clip point is fully flat ground from D2 tool steel for excellent cutting performance and good stain resistance for a non-stainless steel. It opens smoothly on phosphor bronze washers via a classic nail nick with a solid half-stop, slip joint operation. The clip point tapers to a fine point for detail work while the long sweeping blade has a subtle belly for general slicing tasks.

Handle: Torx hardware secures the beautiful carbon fiber scales to precision fit stainless steel liners which house the strong back spring and blade. The back spring is strong enough for safe operation without being a nail breaker. Classic Trapper handle contours are comfortable and executed perfectly in a modern style.

D2 Tool Steel: D2 is a cold work tool steel that has been used as a die cutting steel since WW II. D2 has a high chromium content for a tool steel (10-13%) which gives it greater corrosion resistance than most high carbon steels making it semi-stainless. D2 offers a good combination of toughness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance for a good all around knife steel.
