Based on the design of the original SOG-TAC automatic, the TAC XR brings this popular tactical design to the robust, fast deploying XR-Lock platform. The iconic design retains the clip point profile, now in Cryo treated D2, along with lightening quick deployment thanks to a ball bearing pivot with three deployment options: XR Lock, thumb studs or kick flipper. With manual deployment the TAC XR allows for greater freedom to carry while maintaining a robust construction that is sure to make it popular with military, law enforcement and civilian users alike. This Blackout version comes with a black coated, partially serrated blade, matching liners and black G10 scales.

Blade: With a full flat grind and clip point swedge the D2 blade of the TAC XR delivers excellent piercing and slicing performance. The combo edge has a clean slicing plain edge up front with a partially serrated section to make quick work of tough, fibrous materials near the handle. Great for left- or right-handed users, the blade can be deployed in three ways: the dual thumb studs, XR Lock, or kick flipper tab. Which ever method you choose deployment will be fast and smooth thanks to the ball bearing pivot, delivering fast access to the blade when seconds count. Acting as the index finger guard when deployed, the index flipper pairs with jimping on the spine for added security while the black coated blade provides a corrosion resistant and non-reflective finish for discreet use.

Handle: Beefy, black stainless steel liners house the robust XR lock, able to withstand up to 1500 pounds of force, and support coarse textured black G10 for a secure grip even in adverse conditions. A polymer back spacer protects the blade when closed and rides proud to the handle creating a more contoured feel along with the chamfered scales. A generous hole at the pommel allows for lanyard attachment.

D2 Tool Steel: D2 is a cold work tool steel that has been used as a die cutting steel since WW II. With a high chromium content for a tool steel (10-13%) D2 offers greater corrosion resistance than most high carbon steels. With a good combination of toughness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance D2 is a well-balanced, all around knife steel.
