Both Spartan Blades and maker William Harsey were asked by a Canadian special forces outfit to build them a blade that would serve them well in their home territory. Together they designed the Difensa, named for the famous battle fought by Canadian/US 1st Special Service Force during WWII in Italy. The flat ground spear point blade serves as an excellent combat knife as well as a strong, all-around outdoors companion. This version comes with a Flat Dark Earth ZrN coated blade, textured black canvas Micarta handle scales and tan nylon belt sheath.

Blade: The CPM-S45VN spear point blade has a mid-height saber grind which offers a good combination of cutting performance and durability. The top swedge tapers to a fine yet robust point for piercing. Flat Dark Earth ZrN (Zirconium Nitride) PVD coating leaves a highly wear-resistant finish that is both non-reflective and resistant to corrosion, enhancing performance. Large yet well-balanced, the Difensa is an exceptionally capable field knife.

Handle: The full tang extends through two contoured and 3D textured handle scales made from canvas Micarta. The handles deliver a comfortable and ergonomic platform for a secure grip capable of serious utility and defensive use. A paracord lanyard is already attached to the exposed pommel end for added security.

Sheath: Carries via a MOLLE compatible nylon sheath.

CPM-S45VN: An evolution in Crucible's S30-series, S45VN shows improved edge retention and corrosion resistance relative to S35VN and offers an upgrade to Elmax with better hardness, corrosion resistance, toughness, and sharpness with similar edge retention.
