The Amalgam delivers a full 3.5" of cutting edge in the stout CPM S30V blade while maintaining an easy to carry design thanks to the slim, nested liner construction and composite Carbon Fiber/G10 laminate handle scales for light weight and durability.

Blade: A fully flat ground and satin finished CPM S30V blade deploys smooth and quick on a stainless steel bearing pivot via an integral flipper or the Spyderco round hole for fast, ambidextrous opening. A stretch of jimping on the spine paired with a combination deep finger choil and integral flipper tab guard provides enhanced security during heavy use. Tested and true CPM S30V stainless steel offers a great balance of performance in edge retention, toughness, corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. Spyderco knows S30V and does it well. A forward choil gives a positive grip for detail oriented tasks.

Handle: The nested liner construction supports Carbon Fiber/G10 composite scales which keep the Amalgam light in weight while providing strength and traction in the hand. The full length handle gives a full, 4-finger grip even when wearing gloves. The Spyderco Compression Lock delivers smooth operation and a strong and secure lock up for reliability in adverse conditions. An open back construction makes for easy cleaning and maintenance. A lanyard tube is placed at the rear of the handle for easy lanyard attachment while retaining optimal pocket clip placement.

CPM-S30V: A martensitic, powdered stainless steel with high levels of wear and corrosion resistance. Its chemistry promotes the formation and even distribution of vanadium carbides, which are harder and more effective at cutting than chromium carbides. This gives it a very refined grain, further improving the sharpness and toughness. S30V is a great, all around steel with high levels of performance.
