Blade: Made from fully flat ground and satin finished 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, the blade of the Astute is slim and stylish while offering three inches of cutting edge to handle your everyday tasks. Phosphor bronze washers make for smooth, ambidextrous operation via the Spyderco Round Hole.

Handle: Full stainless liners support black G10 scales which deliver a robust platform and ergonomic comfort. A sleek package open or closed, the Astute is comfortable in the hand with a secure grip thanks to a generous thumb scoop and index cutout which allows easy access to the liner lock mechanism. Open back construction makes for ease of cleaning and maintenance. A stainless tube at the pommel end allows for lanyard attachment.

8Cr13MoV: Similar to Japanese AUS-8, 8Cr13MoV is a low carbon, high chromium stainless steel with an excellent balance of toughness and strength. It offers good corrosion resistance and is capable of acquiring a razor sharp edge. Edge holding is significantly lower than S30V but close to 440B. Sharpening should be a breeze.
