Blade: Made from time tested CPM-S30V the Wharncliffe blade offers powerful slicing performance from heel to tip. Purpose built the blade is relatively thin at 2.8 mm with a shallow hollow grind and reinforced tip to give the Canis exceptional slicing and piecing ability while retaining good strength. A mid-blade swedge reduced the weight for good balance while the jimped thumb ramp that extends to the handle provides solid traction and control during strenuous use. The ambidextrous Spyderco Round Hole makes for easy and reliable operation of the knife even with gloves.

Handle: The easily to maintain, open back nested liner construction supports Carbon Fiber/G10 composite scales which keep the Canis lightweight while delivering strength and traction in the hand. The generous handle length offers a full, 4-finger grip even when wearing gloves with a design that offers in hand security in both forward and reverse grips. The Spyderco Compression Lock delivers smooth operation and a strong and secure lock up for reliability in adverse conditions. A generous hollow pin is positioned at the rear of the handle for easy lanyard attachment while retaining optimal pocket clip placement.

CPM-S30V: A martensitic, powdered stainless steel with high levels of wear and corrosion resistance. Its chemistry promotes the formation and even distribution of vanadium carbides, which are harder and more effective at cutting than chromium carbides. This gives it a very refined grain, further improving the sharpness and toughness. S30V is a great, all around steel with high levels of performance.
