Every surface on this Spyderco Edgerati goes black, from the DLC blade to the anodized scales, lock bar, clip and hardware. The cutout frame reads as shadow, and the Compression Lock still works in plain sight.

• Blacked-Out Skeletonized Aluminum Handle - Aircraft-grade aluminum cut from solid and hardcoat anodized black, matched by a black-coated lock bar, clip and hardware for one continuous tone. The surface is soft to the touch, so the grip comes from the milled geometry, and the choil pulls you forward.
• Compression Lock & Round Hole - The stainless lock bar wedges between a ramp on the blade tang and the stop pin, and the cutouts leave it visible while the knife is closed. The detent is crisp, the blade snaps open off the Round Hole, and the lockup holds with no play.
• S30V Blade with Black DLC - The Diamond-Like Carbon coating is hard and non-reflective, and it adds wear resistance over the S30V underneath. That steel is an upper-mid-grade American stainless that holds an edge well and takes patience to resharpen. The full flat grind slices and the tip stays fine.
• Reversible Tip-Up Clip & Pocket Carry - The broad-based clip mounts on either side for left or right tip-up carry, and the Round Hole opens from both sides, so the knife runs fully ambidextrous. It rides lighter than its size suggests, though there is no hiding that it is a full-size folder.

The Spyderco Edgerati

The Spyderco Edgerati comes from co-founder Sal Glesser, a longtime sports-car enthusiast. He took the pierced frame of the birdcage Maserati as the starting point, and the handle follows that logic: aluminum cut from solid, then opened up everywhere the material was not doing structural work. Strength comes from the shape instead of from mass, which is why a knife with a blade this size stays this light. The cutouts also leave the stainless lock bar exposed, so the part that holds the blade open is visible before you ever open it.
