Details

The Foundry is the result of a project started a few years ago, when Carpenter Technology asked Spyderco to produce a knife constructed purely from their materials. Boasting a CTS-XHP blade and a 465 stainless steel handle Spyderco perfectly executed the request. With the first run going entirely to workers at Carpenter, this is a great opportunity to own this unique collaboration.

The blade of the Foundry is a utilitarian clip point style, and has a full flat grind with trademarked Spyderco hole opener. Prominently shown on the front scale is Carpenter's logo, with the back consisting of a Reeve Integral Lock (Frame Lock) and a wire clip configured for tip up carry in the right pocket. Also features a lanyard hole, to add your own personal touch.

About Carpenter: In the past, many steels used in today's knives were developed for other applications, and were adapted for use in the knife world. Carpenter is now working side by side with several manufacturers, to create steels specifically for use in the knife industry. They have a proven track record of producing quality steel and titanium alloys, and will continue to innovate metallurgy processes used in today's knives.

About CTS-XHP: An alloy steel made by Carpenter, CTS-XHP was developed as a corrosion resistant D2 alternative. Our research shows users estimating edge retention slightly ahead of S30V, and toughness comparable to D2. This makes CTS-XHP a premium steel, which should hold a great edge and be reasonably corrosion resistant.
