Spyderco Nirvana Rassenti Integral Titanium Frame C199TIP

The Spyderco Nirvana was designed by custom knifemaker Peter Rassenti who is well known for his integral folder handles. Like the originals, these production knives have their titanium handles crafted out of a solid billet for superior strength and an ultra clean modern look. This new one-piece handle folder is so exceptional that it won Blade Magazine's "Imported Knife of the Year" award.

The Blade: The super stainless steel blade has a sabre grind with a clip-point that strikes a solid balance between strength and edge geometry. The blade transitions from a jimped flat thumb rest into a full swedge that runs down to the tip. The blade has a stonewashed finish to match the handle while Spyderco's trademark half inch diameter thumb hole is set proud and center.

The Handle: Fully machined from a slab of titanium to include a high strength Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) mechanism, the frame is both thin and strong with a fully beveled and contoured shape. Geometric lines are very finely machined into the frame and continue from top to bottom right across the spine. For easier access to the firm lock bar, a relief was added to topside. In this same area, both sides were thinned down for direct access to the Spyderco thumb hole. While it works well in a traditional hold, the handle also has some aggressive notches cut into the rear of the frame that line up directly where a thumb will rest when in a reverse grip. Included traditional hour glass pocket clip set for right-hand tip up carry.

CPM S90V is a martensitic stainless steel that provides excellent wear resistance and good corrosion resistance. CPM S90V offers much better wear resistance than 440C and D-2, while providing corrosion resistance equal to or better than 440C. The toughness of CPM S90V is slightly better than 440C. The high carbon content combines with the vanadium to form vanadium carbides, which provides the wear resistance, while leaving the chromium free to provide the corrosion resistance.
