Spyderco Roadie Slip Joint Plain N690Co Blue FRN C189PBL
Originally designed to meet post-9/11 TSA regulations that would allow certain knives on airplanes, the Spyderco Roadie is a highly functional, two-handed opening, non-locking pocketknife. While those regulations were subsequently withdrawn, the Roadie is still an exceptionally ergonomic design that is perfect for everyday carry for restrictive environments or as a companion to a larger blade. This version comes with a flat ground, Sheepsfoot blade of Bohler N690Co and a smooth Blue FRN handle.
Brand new, direct from Spyderco Knives, Italy.
Blade: Essentially a modern day penknife, the Roadie is a practical and user-friendly slip joint with a distinguishing Double Dent opener. A pair of symmetrical dimples in the blade provide a solid purchase for opening the blade with a pinch grip. Far superior to a traditional nail nick the Double Dent system does not collect dirt or debris and offers better ease of opening. A wide, Sheepsfoot profile N690Co stainless steel blade is fully flat ground creating incredible edge geometry for a scalpel-sharp edge while being quite robust at the tip. Spine and finger choil are jimped for traction and allow the user to hold the blade preventing unintentional closure during use and giving exceptional control. Notched half stop slip joint operation makes for easier opening and stronger bias against closure for added safety. A Trademark Round Hole identifies this Spyderco while being an aesthetic feature only. The injection-molded scales are contoured for comfort and feature an embossed Spyderco “bug” logo on both sides. Simple and minimal in design, the Roadie is surprisingly ergonomic and secure in the hand thanks to the subtle taper of the handle paired with jimping on the choil and spine. A generous hole if provided for lanyard attachment if more grip area is required.
Handle: A full length stainless steel back spring enhances the structural strength and, along with stainless steel pins, joints the two solid fiberglass-reinforced-nylon handle scales.
This knife has no clip. Carries easily in a pocket or bag.
Bohler N690Co: N690Co is a high quality stainless steel with performance similar to Japanese VG-10 with high level corrosion resistance, good edge retention and ease of sharpening.
