Inspired by the traditional knife of the Chokwe people of Central and Southern Africa, the Watu is a smaller variation of the Chokwe knife from Spyderco's Ethnic Series. Scaled down for better everyday carry, the Watu comes with the same triangular blade and coffin-shaped handles as the original with a Compression Lock construction with steel liners, Carbon Fiber/G10 laminate scales and a high-performance, satin finished CPM-20CV blade and deep carry wire pocket clip for carry. The Watu is a classy, gentleman's carry folder with an iconic design history.

Blade: Similar to a traditional Wharncliffe, the flat ground blade of the Watu has a mostly straight cutting edge with a slight rise at the tip which powerful cutting performance while the long clip tapers the blade to the point for fine piercing and detail work. Satin finished CPM-20CV offers exceptional edge retention and corrosion resistance for everyday cutting performance with a thin stock for enhanced slicing. A smooth thumb ramp and subtle, jimped choil allow a secure grip and controlled cutting. Phosphor bronze washer and a 13.1 mm Round Hole offer smooth, ambidextrous operation.

Handle: Peel-ply textured Carbon Fiber and G10 laminate scales are attached to nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners for rock solid construction. The Compression lock delivers smooth operation and reliable security during use with an open back construction for ease of cleaning. With an unusual, stick-like, straight design the Watu has a simple look while the ergonomics are amazing, illustrating the historical development of this design. Two holes in the handle are another nod to the original design and functionally enhance grip in the hand.

Carries via a reversible, tip-up, stainless steel deep carry wire clip.

CPM 20CV: CPM 20CV is a highly wear-resistant, powder metallurgy stainless tool steel, an analog to Bohler's M390, and offers some of the best corrosion resistance and wear resistance in combination with a relative ease of sharpening. These properties along with a working hardness in the low 60s HRC make 20CV a prime choice among custom and production makers.
