TOPS El Chappo Cleaver Sniper Grey 1095 Black Micarta Fixed Blade ECHA-02

The El Chappo from TOPS Knives is a massive carbon steel cleaver that is as functional in the kitchen as it is in the woods. Like the Italian 'manaresso', the El Chappo will split anything you lay before it, from a side of beef to a hickory log and anything in between. Subtlety is not a word you'd use to describe the El Chappo. That said, the nearly full height grind on the tall sub-1/4" blade makes gives excellent slicing performance in food preparation if need be. The weight and balance of this blade will have you chopping all that can be chopped! This version comes with a blade of Sniper Grey Cerakote coated 1095 carbon steel and black canvas Micarta scales.

Blade: Thick, 1095 carbon steel is differentially heat treated for optimal performance. The nearly full height grind and slight curve of the blade makes chopping on a flat surface a breeze. Finished in a durable and non-reflective Sniper Grey Cerakote, the blade gains some corrosion resistance for ease of maintenance and is discreet in use.

Handle: Contoured black canvas Micarta scales are attached over red liners to the full tang blade. The handles are comfortable and secure even in wet conditions and a pronounced finger choil area allows for a close grip for more controlled work or grip the palm swell for added leverage in chopping. Always make sure to keep important things clear of the path of the blade…legs, fingers, pets and small children come to mind.

Sheath: Includes a Kydex blade cover with elastic shock cord for storage and transport.

1095 Carbon Steel: A popular, simple carbon steel, 1095 is used extensively by both production and custom knife makers. Low abrasive wear resistance and easy to sharpen. Not corrosion resistant and will rust without proper care. TOPS utilizes a differential heat treat process which delivers a harder edge and tougher spine.
