The Fieldcraft Folder takes TOPS' number one selling Brothers of Bushcraft fixed blade design to another level. This version turns its beloved modified Scandi ground blade, superb ergonomics and legendary TOPS toughness into a worker that can be simply folded up and tucked away in your pocket. It's handy, it's hardcore and it is most definitely ready to go outdoors.
This is a brand new item directly from TOPS Knives, USA.
The Blade: Built in the familiar use-all drop point styling and given the modified Scandi grind for unlimited uses. There isn't a chore outdoors you'll want to tackle without your Fieldcraft Folder by your side. It has the classic two-toned finish leaving the bottom half machined satin with the upper half a black Cerakote coating. This ceramic coating is tough and will help preserve the quality of the steel over time. TOPS has chosen to cut a single oval window and two small circular ones for ambidextrous, one hand operation. These cut outs will make it simpler to press parts of your thumb/fingers into even with gloves on. It's a Fieldcraft, so there is definitely some wide notching on the spine creating a thumb ramp for controlled cutting. They went with their go-to 1095 carbon steel that gets heat treated to a perfect super tough end product easy to re-sharpen in the field.
The Handle: Comfortable with traction, even when wet, canvas micarta scales are secured via black hardware to black finished stainless steel liners. The edges are smooth and contoured for prolonged use with that makes-you-smile B.O.B. grip. Now since TOPS thought of southpaws on this design, they put a bow drill divot on each side of the handle. That's because the tip up pocket clip will cover the divot on the side it's connected to. You can also choose to remove the clip completely and take advantage of the sweet leather belt sheath TOPS included with your Folder. It's totally up to you. While it is in the larger realm of folders on the market, there are few this versatile and carry friendly. You never know when you may need some extra length in the woods.
Note: While the Fieldcraft folder has been tested and abused to ensure a quality product, it is still a folding knife. As such, batoning and many other hard-use techniques that many fixed blades will handle, will not be covered under this knife's warranty.
