WE Knives 2008B Roman Stonewashed S35VN Gray Titanium Frame Lock Front Flipper

Alessandra De Santis (aka Hydra Design) has teamed up with WE Knives to deliver the Roman, a modern front flipper design both inspired by and a tribute to the city of Rome and its traditional folding knife. A lifelong knife enthusiast, technical reviewer and Filipino Martial Arts, De Santis put her considerable pool of knowledge to work designing this sleek, modern frame lock folder. This version comes with a gray stonewashed CPM-S35VN blade and tumbled gray titanium handles.

Blade: Riding on a caged ceramic ball bearing pivot the blade deploys fast and smooth via the extra long front flipper which allows for multiple deployment options. Blasted and stonewashed S35VN comes in a long, spear-like profile with spine swedge and full flat grind. The grind and 3 mm blade stock make this a proficient slicer while the slender blade and forward swedge offer devastating piercing power.

Handle: Dual slabs of 6AL4V Titanium are tumbled with chamfered edges for a comfortable in hand feel. Slim for carry, the handle is milled with texture to mimic the stones of the Via Appia Antica, a strategic Roman road. This milling provides good traction while the taper toward the pommel delivers a secure grip. Equipped with a hardened steel lock face for smooth, reliable operation the integral frame lock is rock solid and secure. Construction is completed with a matching partial back spacer with titanium lanyard pull, barrel spacer and custom pivot.

CPM S35VN: was designed to offer improved toughness over CPM S30V. It is also easier to machine and polish than CPM S30V and the adjusted chemistry makes CPM S35VN about 15-20% tougher than CPM S30V without any loss of wear resistance. CPM S35VN’s improved toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping.
