The Benchmade Axis Lock is
one of the strongest and
safest locks available in the
knife industry today.
Pioneered by Bill McHenry and
Jason Williams, these knives
are built with a steel bar riding
along the top surface of the
blade and are held in place
by two omega springs hidden
conveniently in the knife's
liners. This simple mechanism
opens and closes with a silky
smooth action and even
creates a nice detent to keep
your blade closed in the
pocket. The Lock itself is
completely ambidextrous, and
in most cases all that's
needed to fully convert the
knife is to simply switch the
clip to the other side of the
handle.
Benchmade makes several
Axis Lock models, including
such popular designs as the
Griptilian, and the original Axis
Lock itself, the Benchmade
Model 710.
