This axe was designed for chopping and splitting with a maul like head that wedges wood apart with ease. The GS Splitting Axe comes with a high quality leather bit cover for safe carry. The classic, curved handle design ensures a smooth swing and ergonomically efficient operation to keep you chopping until the job is done.
Head: 1060 Carbon Tool Steel is heat treated to 45-50 HRC, offering the optimal toughness you want in an ax. The head is forge finished with a polished edge and sides of the wedge for reduced friction in splitting.
Handle: The handle is made from a solid piece of American Hickory making the Axe 34" in overall length delivering plenty of leverage for full-length swings needed for chopping and splitting larger pieces with minimal effort.
