• 1095 Carbon Steel Drop Point - The satin drop point is an all-around shape for boxes, twine, and slicing an apple at lunch. 1095 is a tough, simple carbon steel that takes a keen edge fast, though it won't hold one as long as premium steels. Wipe it dry and add a drop of oil to keep rust away.
• Slip Joint Backspring - A stout backspring keeps the blade under real tension, and opening takes a deliberate pull at the nail nick. A pronounced half stop catches the blade midway. Open or closed, it lands with a crisp crack you can hear across the room.
