Lockback Knives

Lockback Knives snap into place with a firm, audible click and hold the blade with almost no play, a spring-tensioned bar dropping its hook over the blade tang while open. The release sits back on the spine, well clear of the edge, so the lock stays put through hard cutting. The iconic Buck 110 uses this lock, one of the oldest lock mechanisms still trusted for hard use.
