A swedged spear blade steals the show and operates via a deep, long nail groove towards the spine. Polished marrow cattle bone highlights the handles and adds good purchase. 1095 Carbon Steel: Popular, simple carbon steel used extensively by production and custom knife makers. Low abrasive wear (edge retention) due to low carbide content and easy to sharpen to a fine edge. Not corrosion resistant and will rust without proper care. Some makers use a differential heat treat process which delivers a harder edge and tougher spine for enhanced performance.
