This limited Protech Malibu runs MagnaCut in a DLC black Wharncliffe blade, with Dragon Scale aluminum, satin hardware and black lip pearl set into the button lock. It flips open effortlessly by hand for daily carry.

• DLC Black MagnaCut Wharncliffe Blade - Protech grinds the MagnaCut blade high and flat to a fine tip under black DLC, with the Wharncliffe edge running straight to the point. The steel is premium grade, pairing corrosion resistance with edge retention rather than trading one away.
• Black Dragon Scale Milled Aluminum Handle - A Dragon Scale pattern is milled into the 7075 aluminum before anodizing, leaving a medium texture that adds grip. Two scales join along the spine forming a two-piece handle with a machined lanyard hole passing through the end.
• Black Lip Pearl Button Lock & Bearing Pivot - A flipper tab throws the blade open, and the button lock doubles as the detent, tuned to break crisp. Ball bearings on hardened steel washers carry the pivot, the lockup has no play, and the black lip pearl button drops the blade shut.
• Short Deep-Carry Pocket Clip - Short, black and shaped for deep carry, the clip sits on the show side for right-hand tip-up carry. It buries the handle so only the clip shows above the pocket seam.

The Protech Malibu

The Protech Malibu has some of the finest fidget action in the industry. With ball bearings at the pivot and precisely tuned button lock detent, the blade opens effortlessly at the press of the flipper. Matthew Lerch drew up the design, as the first manual button lock out of a shop that had spent two decades on side-opening automatics. This same design would later claim Overall Knife of the Year at the 2022 Blade Show.  Protech has been building American-made knives since 1999 and makes the Malibu in small batches, hand fit at the bench for precision built daily carry.
