Protech Malibu Wharncliffe Purple Aluminum MagnaCut DLC Black Button Lock Flipper (3.25" Blade) 5303-PURPLE

This Protech Malibu is a slim manual flipper in purple anodized aluminum, with a black DLC Wharncliffe blade in MagnaCut. The straight edge and fine tip suit point and detail work, and everything runs on a single button lock.

• Black DLC MagnaCut Wharncliffe Blade - Magnacut fights rust better than most stainless steels and still holds a hard working edge, without the sharpening headache of many high-end powder steels. A high flat grind carries the straight edge to a fine point, and the black DLC coating cuts glare.
• Purple Aluminum Handle & Deep-Carry Clip - Purple anodizing covers the solid aluminum scales, with black hardware set against it for contrast. The scales are slim and gently contoured for finger placement.
• Button Lock with Flipper Deployment - The button lock doubles as the detent, so the flipper breaks crisp and hard with no separate detent ball in the mix. The blade rides ball bearings over hardened steel washers, drops shut at a push of the button, and locks open with zero play.
• Deep Carry Steel Pocket Clip - The clip is set for right-hand, tip-up carry and rides the knife low enough that almost nothing shows above the pocket seam. Slim scales and a light build keep it from printing through a pocket over a full day of carry.

The Protech Malibu

The Protech Malibu has some of the finest fidget action in the industry. With ball bearings at the pivot and precisely tuned button lock detent, the blade opens effortlessly at the press of the flipper. Matthew Lerch drew up the design, as the first manual button lock out of a shop that had spent two decades on side-opening automatics. This same design would later claim Overall Knife of the Year at the 2022 Blade Show.  Protech has been building American-made knives since 1999 and makes the Malibu in small batches, hand fit at the bench for precision built daily carry.
